I suggest looking at a team and asking:

How well do they and how willing are they to communicate effectively with one another?

How well do they and how willing are they to collaborate with one another?

How much trust do they show in one another and get from others?

If these things do not seem to be happening, I would suggest the team is underperforming because, if they are happening, the team is likely successful at most things they do together.

I also suggest that all of these 3 things need to be working at some reasonably effective level for any one of them to work reasonably well. I believe it would be hard for people to be effective at any one of them (communicate, collaborate, and show trust) in isolation from the other two.
