I was near the Hanford site about 15 years ago. That is, I was several miles north of it on a road (Hwy 24 I think) where sand often dunes a bit over the road and a viewing area exists. I was in Richland to conduct a CSQE training class for people from Fluor who were in the area trying to find, dig up, and better handle the radioactive waste canisters buried there. Problem was, they said, not very good records were kept about where they were buried. The Columbia River also ran not far from the area.
