"Let's liberate the Scrum Master and embrace Scrum!"

How about we embrace Agile and worry about Scrum secondarily?

The market made the Scrum Master role in the first place which is why there are over a million Scrum Masters.

Had a call with a person recently who said they got their CSM and I asked about their organization's Scrum effort. They said they hadn't decided on Scrum, but everyone seemed to want Scrum certifications.

Just how many of the million Scrum Masters do you think are actually functioning as Scrum Masters? How many of those do you think function in a way that actually helps their organization's develop an effective Agile effort? (Notice I did not say Scrum effort since plenty of organizations think Scrum is Agile.)
